The desire of the Russian occupiers to capture the city of Avdiivka in the Donetsk region is a political decision. Despite all the enemy’s attempts to attack, the Ukrainian army continues to hold this large defense hub. This was stated by the speaker of the Ukrainian Volunteer Army “South” Serhii Bratchuk on the FREEDOM TV channel.
“Let’s say that at least, according to experts, about 50% of Avdiivka simply no longer exists. This is what the “Russian world” carries within itself. As for the enemy’s plans, I always say that this is a political decision. First of all, this is a large defense hub for the Ukrainian Defense Forces. His detention continues. Moreover, despite the fact that the enemy has the maximum concentration of forces and assets in the Avdiivka direction today, their tactical advances are insignificant,” Bratchuk noted.
He emphasized that for the Russians, capturing the city is a mythical victory at any cost.
“This was the case, for example, in Bakhmut, when units of the Wagner PMC were, for example, in the basements of a champagne wine factory. But if victory is in this… And let’s remember where they ended up, how they were knocked out, including from the flanks in the Bakhmut direction, and from the city itself, which, unfortunately, no longer exists today,” added the guest of the broadcast .
The Ukrainian military today has built serious defensive lines, Bratchuk emphasized.
“The enemy has a certain initiative, but it depends on the number of personnel, the amount of equipment they use. Yes, they have a serious advantage in numbers. However, a well-constructed defense on our part does not allow the enemy to fully realize the initiative he is showing. Therefore, they cannot complete all of their tasks that they scheduled for specific periods. I hope that in the near future they will not be able to fulfill it,” concluded Bratchuk.
