In October 2024, the Russian army suffered the highest monthly losses since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

This was stated by the Commander of the British Armed Forces, Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, in a interview with the BBC.

According to Radakin, in October, Russian forces lost an average of about 1,500 killed and wounded every day, and their total losses since February 2022 are approaching 700,000.

He emphasized that the Russian people are paying an “extraordinary price” for the invasion of Ukraine.

“Russia is about to lose 700,000 people, killed and wounded – this is immense pain and suffering that the Russian people are enduring because of Putin’s ambitions,” noted the British Army commander.

According to estimates by the Ukrainian General Staff, the total losses of Russian forces in Ukraine amount to nearly 709,000.

Radakin added that significant Russian losses have been incurred “for a tiny patch of land.”

“There is no doubt that Russia is gaining tactical and territorial advantages, and this is putting pressure on Ukraine,” the British commander acknowledged, while also noting that Russia is spending over 40% of its state budget on defense and security.

It’s worth noting that British intelligence also recorded a new daily loss record for Russian occupation forces in Ukraine in September 2024, the highest of the entire full-scale invasion.

In the weekly report from the General Staff of the Estonian Defense Forces, it was highlighted that Russian occupiers are maintaining a high offensive pace, trying to capture as much territory as possible before the frost sets in.
