The behavior of Ukreximbank representatives is unacceptable – the Office of the President of Ukraine

The Office of the President of Ukraine responded to the attack on the journalists of the “Skhemy” (“Schemes”) program at Ukreximbank.

As the adviser to the head of the Office of President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak noted, the official position of the OP on the situation in Ukreximbank is undoubtedly clear, specific and fully correlates with public condemnation of the actions of the management of the state bank.

According to him, the situation around Ukreximbank can only be perceived negatively.

“Freedom of speech is one of the fundamental values ​​in Ukraine. Therefore, the duty of officials at any level is to communicate correctly with journalists and respect their right to ask any questions of public importance. It does not matter what level of structure is in question and whether this structure operates in the public or private sector. The rules of respect for journalistic work and formats for providing access to socially important information have long been developed, and there can be no reason not to comply with them” – he said.

It is noted that the National Police of Ukraine and the Supervisory Board of Ukreximbank have made relevant statements. The National Police of Ukraine in the framework of open criminal proceedings analyzes all the circumstances of the incident. The Supervisory Board announced that the audit was carried out within the framework of the rules approved for state-owned banks. Also at the level of the Supervisory Board and in accordance with the procedures, the bank can moderate the further development of this situation for the financial institution.

“At a minimum, the decision to remove the chairman of the bank’s board from his post seems logical so that there is not a single, even hypothetical, obstacle to investigation and verification. As a maximum for leveling the damage, the bank and the state need, possibly, more stringent personnel decisions in a financial institution. Institutional mechanisms for getting out of this situation are provided, and they should work” – added in the Office of President of Ukraine.
