Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha has urged more of Ukraine’s partner countries to take up patronage over specific regions of Ukraine.

Sybiha made the statement on his Twitter account.

He emphasized that the patronage of partner countries over Ukrainian cities and regions holds great potential, allowing for direct support to people on the ground and having a long-term impact, as residents remember this assistance well.

He reminded that several allies have already joined this initiative, providing significant help in the reconstruction of these regions and promoting investment and business development.

“I urge Ukraine’s partners who have not yet done so to join President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s initiative and select a region for patronage where they can facilitate change,” Sybiha stated.

For example, Estonia has focused its aid on the Zhytomyr region, Latvia on Chernihiv, and Lithuania is helping rebuild northern Kyiv. Denmark has taken patronage over Mykolaiv, while Italy has centered its efforts on cultural restoration, particularly in Odesa.

During the first visit of Dutch Prime Minister Dijk Shoof to Ukraine, Zelensky invited the Netherlands to take patronage over Zaporizhzhia.
