Switzerland will allocate almost 45 million Swiss francs (€48.3m) to support Ukraine during the winter period. This was announced by the Swiss Federal Council.
The funds will be used to restore energy infrastructure, repair damaged housing and meet urgent humanitarian needs. The new aid package is based on the experience of past winters: in 2022 and 2023 Switzerland has already allocated 84.5 million francs to support Ukraine, and the total amount of aid for war victims in Ukraine and neighboring countries exceeded 477 million francs.
Earlier it became known that over the next four years Switzerland plans to invest 1.5 billion francs ($1.7 billion) in Ukraine’s reconstruction projects, including the participation of the private sector. In addition, 100 million francs ($118 million) was approved in 2023 exclusively for humanitarian demining.
Switzerland continues to actively support Ukraine by focusing on long-term reconstruction projects and addressing pressing humanitarian challenges.
