Health Minister Maksym Stepanov met with Cyrus Punavala, owner of the Serum Institute, the largest vaccine manufacturer in the world, in particular NovaVax and AstraZeneca / CoviShield.

UATV informs about this with reference to the minister’s Facebook.

According to Stepanov, the first deliveries of the NovaVax vaccine are expected in July-August.

“We contracted 10 million doses of vaccine. We discussed with Mr. Punavala the possibility of increasing the supply of NovaVax from 10 to 15 million this year. As well as increasing the volume of the first batch of vaccines – from 2 to 4 million doses“, – the head of the Ministry of Health said.

Stepanov recalled that, according to the contract, Ukraine had to receive 1 500 000 doses of the CoviShield vaccine by March 31. But the Indian government does not grant export permits.

“Other countries, including the United Kingdom, are in the situation when vaccines have been paid for but cannot be exported”, – the minister said.

According to Stepanov, the Ministry of Health is doing everything possible to unblock the supply of vaccines.

8 404 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Ukraine on May 6.
