Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that the words of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov about the meeting of foreign ministers in the Normandy format is a “spit in the face” of France and Germany.
Kuleba said this during a briefing on October 20, UA reports.
“Yesterday, my Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov once again distinguished himself and called Ukraine’s initiative to resolve the Russian-Ukrainian armed conflict a “stream of consciousness”. Let me remind you that Vladimir Putin, in his last conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, promised them a meeting of the Ministers of the countries participating in the Normandy format”, – Kuleba noted.
According to the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, he, the German and French foreign ministers are ready for a meeting in the Normandy format, and are in a constructive mood.
“And Sergei Lavrov, unfortunately, shows that he is not tuned in to a constructive conversation between ministers, but to compete with his own speaker in verbal balancing act. Therefore, Lavrov’s words are a spit in the face of France and Germany”, – Kuleba said.
He noted that the leaders clearly agreed that a ministerial meeting should take place, which will pave the way for a future summit.
“At the same time, we still have not received signals from Russia about the readiness to conduct it. The latest statement by Sergei Lavrov undermines the peace process and runs counter to the agreements of the leaders of the states of the Normandy format”, – Kuleba said.
Earlier, Kuleba said that the Russian Federation is systematically violating human rights in the territories temporarily uncontrolled by Kyiv.
