The Spanish Defence Ministry has announced a new military assistance package for Ukraine that envisages 10 Leopard 2A4 tanks.
That’s according to an official press release on its website.
“The multimodal transportation of 10 ‘Leopard’ 2A4 tanks to Ukraine has begun as exhaustive repair, fine-tuning and readiness process at the Santa Bárbara Sistemas factory in Alcalá de Guadaira (Seville) were completed as well as the corresponding tests to verify their full operability,” reads the statement.
The assistance also includes providing “a significant number” of anti-tank missiles.
The shipment is supposed to reach Poland by the weekend and then will be received by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Now, Spain has donated 20 of these tanks to Ukraine. In the second half of 2024, the state will send another batch of tanks, increasing this number.
