The International Investment Forum “Southern Development Strategy” starts on June 10, at Arabat Spit, in the Kherson region. It will last two days.

UATV reports this.

De-occupation of Crimea is one of the main topics of the forum. The event will be attended by about 600 people: 168 heads of territorial communities, more than 400 guests and volunteers, 30 professional speakers.

5 ministries were involved in the organization. At different locations of the forum, presentations of investment projects will be held. The yare said to become the basis for the development of the southern regions of our country. Among them – the project for the construction of the South Center for Transplantation in Kherson, the reconstruction of the Kherson airport, projects for the development of irrigation.

One of the main issues discussed at the forum is the gas transmission system of the south of Ukraine, torn into two parts. After the occupation of Crimea, the local Gas Field was cut off from the gas transmission system of Ukraine.

Because of the lack of a gas pipeline, 2 out of 3 large communities in Ukraine by area – Novotroitske and Henichesk – are constantly suffering. To resolve the problem, they want to build a 96 kilometers long gas pipeline. This will provide fuel to 9,000 households in 44 settlements, and most importantly, realize the significant potential of creating centers for processing agricultural products in the towns of Novotroitske and Novooleksiyvka, which will provide residents with jobs and communities – with financial revenues.

During the meetings, representatives of government, local governments, businesses and potential investors will consider dozens of issues related to the creation of a development strategy for the Ukrainian south and aimed at realizing the economic potential of the region.

The forum was organized with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
