According to experts, the total losses of Ukraine from the occupation of Crimea by Russia are $100 billion.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said this at the inaugural summit of the Crimea platform, UA informs.

He noted that the occupation of Crimea is not only the internal political problem of Ukraine, but a global problem that actually destroys the international security system.

According to Shmyhal, Ukraine has suffered huge economic losses from the occupation of Crimea

“The total losses for today estimated by experts are at more than $100,000,000,000. These are the lost natural resources, lost assets of the state, lost industries, and most importantly, these are negative consequences for people suffering from the policy of the aggressor country” – Prime Minister said.

That is why, as Shmyhal noted, one of the priority tasks of the authorities is to force Russia, by decision of international courts, to start paying for its actions. According to him, there are positive examples, when Ukrainian state and private structures won the relevant lawsuits.

Besides, Shmyhal pointed out one more problem.

“As a result of the policy of militarization and misuse of natural resources, the temporarily occupied Crimea is on the verge of an environmental disaster. Environmental issues are a question of a safe Ukrainian life on the peninsula and, in general, environmental problems for the whole Black Sea region” – he added.

To remind, earlier Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba reported that the Crimean platform will work at three levels: intergovernmental, interparliamentary, and expert level.
