Ukraine appreciates NATO’s solidarity, said President Petro Poroshenko before the start of the second day of the NATO summit in Brussels, a UATV correspondent reports.

“I greatly appreciate the unity of all NATO member states, as well as the solid solidarity shown by the Alliance,” the head of state emphasized.

Poroshenko said that Ukraine is also grateful about the strong text in support of Ukraine, included in the declaration of the NATO summit.

“This is a very strong motivation for continuing reforms. This is especially true of the security sector, democratic transformations in the country. Also, absolutely correct words about Russian aggression in the east of my country and about the illegal annexation of Crimea,” the president said. “Our goal is to achieve NATO standards and fully cooperate with NATO forces by 2020. For this, we are implementing the Annual National Program within the framework of the NATO-Ukraine Commission,” Poroshenko said.

He also wrote on Twitter, “Gratitude to the secretary general of NATO @jensstoltenberg and all colleagues from NATO countries, for the invitation of Ukraine to take part in the Alliance’s events. This is a clear recognition that Ukraine is an important element of Euro-Atlantic security.”

Stoltenberg said yesterday that the illegal annexation of Crimea was not recognized by any NATO country.
