Russian propaganda is deceiving the public about the undermining of the dam of the Kakhovka hydroelectric station (HPP). Russian mass media report that the dam was blown up by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), and the situation in the flooded settlements is under control. Today, June 6, a special correspondent of the FREEDOM TV channel, Eva Nikolashvili, told about this.
The Kakhovka HPP dam cannot be destroyed by shelling it, it was definitely blown up from the inside. The Office of the President of Ukraine (OPU) reported who was involved in the terrorist attack.
“The dam cannot be destroyed by shelling it. It was definitely an explosion from within. And this was proven in the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of Ukraine. The Russians have long been planning to blow up the Kakhovka HPP. The President’s Office reports that this was done by the 205th Russian motorized rifle brigade. The Telegram channel of this brigade reported back in October 2022 that they were 70% sure that it would be done. That is, they were already preparing, they already knew about it and warned people,” the correspondent said.
The Russian troops, who were close to the epicenter of the events, were completely washed away by water.
“The Russians did not want such consequences. This can be seen from their troops, which were located very close. The first front line of defense of the occupier has been completely washed away,” Nikolashvili believes.
The authorities of the Russian Federation planned to partially destroy the dam. There is a possibility that it will collapse further, leading to even greater volumes of flooding.
“The authorities of the Russian Federation initially said that there was nothing at all, because they thought that they blew up where it was necessary. But it turned out that the dam could not withstand and was completely destroyed. It is reported that the dam will be completely destroyed. And then the water level will rise by another three meters literally in an hour,” she said.
Evacuation of people from nearby settlements is currently underway.
“As of 4:30 p.m., the Kherson Regional State Administration (ODA) reported that 1,328 people had been deported, 1,200 of them from the Ostriv microdistrict in Kherson. The head of the Mykolaiv regional state administration, Vitaly Kim, reported that the first evacuation train took people from Kherson. 71 houses were flooded. The water rises rapidly. At any moment there may be more flooding, more destruction. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported yet, and I hope that there will be no casualties, and that everyone will be evacuated. But all the animals died in the zoo,” the correspondent said.
She also noted that the occupation authorities in Crimea reported that the blowing up of the Kakhovka HPP dam will not affect Crimeans, but the facts of the lack of fresh water and the flooding of roads are already being recorded.
“In Crimea, from the very beginning, after the explosion of the Kakhovka HPP, it was reported that the Kakhovka HPP has nothing to do with them and that there will be water. But in just a few hours, Crimeans started uploading videos on social networks showing dirty water. The route leading to Crimea is now completely flooded,” said Nikolashvili.
