The Russian occupiers will continue to attack in the Avdiivka direction to prove their combat capability. The head of the press service of the 26th artillery brigade named after Roman Dashkevich, senior lieutenant Oleg Kalashnikov, said this on air on the FREEDOM TV channel.
“The Russians will still try to attack us in this direction, because they are stuck in it, and they want to prove, in particular, in the internal information market, that they can still achieve some victories. Therefore, in any case, we will expect their increased activity,” Kalashnikov said.
At the same time, he emphasized that for many years, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have created a layered defense in the Avdiivka direction.
“That is, the invaders pass through one section, and the next one is fortified, and we stop them further. However, I think that even before January we will be able to observe a significant increase in Russian troops. Then we will look at the development of events,” said the guest of the broadcast.
The head of the press service also drew attention to the role of the weather factor in this situation.
“The weather at the front really plays a role. When the Donbas soil, and it is heavy, it is black soil, gets wet due to rains, mud appears, which makes the movement of equipment very difficult, then it reduces maneuverability. In addition, if it is cloudy, then aerial reconnaissance is not so active. And today, reconnaissance using UAVs is one of the main elements in determining the enemy’s intentions. We then see where he is grouping, where he creates his offensive groups, then we can determine his actions,” Kalashnikov explained.

Earlier, military analyst Ivan Stupak said that the Russian military command will continue to send people to assault Avdiivka until the city is completely captured. This is the only direction where the Russian occupiers have the greatest chance of success. The Kremlin needs the capture of this city in order to talk about the successes of the Russian army during the presidential election campaign.
