On December 1, the Russian occupation forces in Donbas began a new period of operational and combat training. They are conducting intensive preparations for shelling Ukrainian positions with artillery and mortars.

This was reported by UA with reference to Facebook of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

“The occupiers are holding a week of combat readiness to work out the issues of bringing the units and units 1 (Donetsk) and 2 (Luhansk) of the AK to the highest level of combat readiness” – the statement said.

The agency also emphasizes that in some areas the enemy rotates units at the forward positions and conducts intensive training of artillery and mortar units to fire on the positions of the Joint Forces.

“Implementation of the week of combat readiness and rotation in the operational group of the Russian occupation forces are monitored by representatives of the headquarters of the 8th All-Military Army of the Southern Military District of the Russian Armed Forces,” the statement said.

To remind, Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov stressed the possible escalation on the part of the Russian Federation at the end of January 2022 and called it a plausible scenario.
