Russian Missile Attack Damages Ukrainian State International Broadcasting Channels

On February 12, a Russian missile attack on Kyiv damaged the premises of the state-owned International Broadcasting Multimedia Platform of Ukraine (IBMPU) channels FREEDOM, Dim, UATVEnglish, The Gaze, UATVEspañol, UATVArabic, UATVPortuguês, and the digital editorial office. The employees of the State Enterprise “IBMPU” were not injured.

As a result of the Russian shelling, the newsroom of the FREEDOM TV channel was heavily damaged. Currently, FREEDOM is broadcasting from a backup studio. The premises of the international newsroom (digital platforms “UATVEnglish”, “The Gaze”, ‘UATVEspañol’, ‘UATVArabic’, “UATVPortuguês”), broadcasting rooms, offices, and the digital editorial office were also damaged. Buildings windows and doors were smashed, the ceiling partially collapsed, as well as the studio, computer and production equipment, along with the vehicles of the State Enterprise “IBMPU” that were partially damaged. 

“Fortunately, no one from the international broadcasting team was injured. We continue to work and broadcast. Some of our colleagues are temporarily working remotely, as the premises need to be significantly restored. But we will go through it together. I am grateful to all my colleagues who offered help in the very first minutes. We are strong together,“ said Yulia Bin, Director General of the State Enterprise ”IBMPU”.

According to the Air Force of the AFU, since the evening of February 11, Russians have attacked Ukraine with 7 Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 123 drones of various types; 6 missiles and 71 drones were destroyed, and another 40 UAVs were lost locally.
