Russian authorities are currently trying to adapt their information machine to explain to the public why they keep fighting in Ukraine, – Vadym Denysenko

Advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Vadym Denysenko, stated this on the air of Ukrainian TV channels.

“We must not forget that in the Russian Federation they are trying to change their information machine right now. That is, they counted on a sprint race, on the fact that they would beat Ukraine quickly enough, and that this issue would be put on the back burner soon enough. Currently… there is an understanding that something is going wrong,” Denysenko said.

The advisor to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs clarified that the authorities in the Russian Federation are currently looking for new messages and explanations for why they are fighting on the territory of Ukraine. “This is where the ‘anti-Russian enclave’ appeared (in Ukraine – ed.), about which Putin spoke in Kaliningrad on September 1,” he noted.

Among other things, speaking about the death of ex-president of the Russian Federation Mikhail Gorbachev, answering questions about the fact that more attention was paid to it in Russia than in Ukraine, the representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that Russian authorities needed the Gorbachev topic to divert public attention from other developments and win a few days to seek new narratives.

“That is, every day they have new words and explanations, and they try them out on focus groups to explain to the Russians that the war will be long and that they are fighting in Ukraine for a reason, and not for the sake of the ‘old man in the bunker’ but the sake of some bright goal, the struggle for peace in the whole world,” said Denysenko.

Separately, the advisor stated, speaking about the death of Gorbachev, that the Russian Federation understood that he was in a very bad condition, and had been preparing for the day when he passes.

“And a political decision was made that he will still be honored as a former head of state, no matter how he is treated. (This was done – ed.), I think, intending to ensure that Putin, too, whatever happens in the Russian Federation, is buried with similar honors,” he suggested.

According to the adviser to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the fact is that in 1990-1991, the only ideology that remained more or less alive in the Soviet Union was “the struggle for peace against the damned capitalists who seek war.”

“There was an enemy and this enemy had to be fought because this enemy did not seek world peace. The signing of the treaty with the USA destroyed the enemy… And therefore, having lost the enemy, the Soviet government as such had nothing to rely on, no matter how strange it sounds,” he clarified.

So, speaking about Gorbachev’s role in the collapse of the USSR, he noted that it was about preventing the possibility of a nuclear war at that moment.

As reported, the first and only president of the USSR, Mikhail Gorbachev, died on August 30 at the age of 92.
