Russian curler, Oleksandr Krushelnytskiy, tested positive for Meldonium, which is a banned substance.

He has refused to hold hearings in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). This automatically leads to admitting his guilt and the loss of his bronze medal that he won with his wife, Anastasia Bryzgalova, in the mixed-doubles curling tournament.

According to Krushelnytskiy, he never violated the rules, did not use doping, and won the Olympic bronze medal as a result of hard work and constant training.

“For my part, I recognize the violation of the existing anti-doping rules. It is foolish to deny it when the presence of the banned substance in my body is confirmed by the results of two doping tests. Samples were taken during the Olympic Games, and I am ready for the corresponding verdict. In this regard, after weighing all the pros and cons, I decided to refuse to hold hearings in CAS about my situation. I believe that within the framework of the current rules, it is useless and pointless,” Krushelnytskiy said.

The International Olympic Committee earlier accussed Russia of sytematic doping and banned its athletes from participating under the Russian flag. Athletes who did not have a prior doping record, were allowed to participate under the Olympic flag as the Olympic Athletes of Russia.
