The NATO Supreme Allied Commander in Europe, General Christopher Cavoli, believes that regardless of the outcome of the war in Ukraine, the Russian army will emerge stronger than it is today.

He made this statement in an interview with Der Spiegel.

Cavoli warned that the Russian military will remain a dangerous adversary for the Alliance, despite suffering significant losses in the war in Ukraine.

“At the end of the war in Ukraine, no matter what it looks like, the Russian army will be stronger than it is today,” Cavoli said.

In his view, NATO should have no illusions about Russia’s military strength.

“The Russian armed forces are learning, improving, and applying the lessons of war,” Cavoli stated.

He urged NATO to swiftly prepare for this threat, as Russia will be an adversary with serious military capabilities and “clear intentions.”

“That’s why we must be ready and need armed forces that can confront it,” the American general demanded.

According to Cavoli, NATO’s new defense plans and the additional demands on individual NATO partners that arise from them need to be implemented quickly.

“When I say quickly, I mean we must be faster than the Russians,” the general emphasized.

It is worth noting that the head of Germany’s Federal Intelligence Service (BND), Bruno Kahl, believes Russia could be capable of attacking NATO territory within the next six years.

Polish President Andrzej Duda similarly warned that Russia may soon have enough military potential to attack NATO by 2026-27.
