Russia intends to undermine Sandu’s pro-European government in Moldova and other countries building bridges between them and EU.

Deputy Secretary General of NATO Mircea Geoană said this at the European Parlaiment.

Mircea Geoană, alongside his colleagues, plans to found a center within EU structure to fight against Russian propaganda and meddling into EU countries’ affairs.

“If you look to the policy of Russia in Africa, in other places, in the Middle East, you could anticipate they would be very interested, through their proxies, to create problems for us, also as some of the countries are accelerating their European Union track” the European leader stated.

He encouraged to see support for the latter countries as the main goal for European leaders.

“This is the mission of our generation. We have to make sure that the rest of the countries that are willing to join the West, and some of them are starting, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Bosnia and others, Western Balkans… Nothing more important for them to be successful also in the EU track,” concluded Mircea Geoană at the European Parliament.

He added it is morally imperative that the EU helps smaller countries, which also struggle with geographically unfavourable conditions, willing to join the EU and fulfill all the criteria and allows them to “be a part fo the family”.
