Russia Mourns for Those Who Tragically Died Because of Infuriating Negligence

Russia is mourning today – March 28th – for there is not much to do when authorities do not fulfil their mission of protecting the population.

Blocked fire exits, a failing alarm system that apparently did not even alert people of the fire – one may legitimately wonder how the commercial complex could even be operating considering its lack of safety for those who would simply come to spend some leisure time.

The complex highlights the incompetence of local authorities who gave the green light for the commercial center to open despite the pre-opening inspection that flagged dangerous and urgent fire safety issues.

Famous Russian Blogger Ilya Varlamov – a public figure often targeted for his critics of Putin’s Russia – deplored the dramatic number of kids who died due to ‘business as usual’ in today’s Russia, where any business owner can obtain Fire Safety approval simply by bribing the inspector – a tariff almost well established and known to all entrepreneurs.

The local population’s despair was multiplied tenfold when current governor Aman Tuleyev presented his apology to Vladimir Putin – who traveled all the way from Moscow – but did not even apologize to the local population for the negligence that his administration has let settle and become the norm in his region.

Translation: “It’s amazing, of course, that Tuleyev asks forgiveness from Putin, and not from the relatives of the deceased.

The population gathered at the Kemerovo central place to display their anger – but neither Vladimir Putin or Governor Tuleyev addressed the people who came out to protest.
