Russia launched missile strikes on educational institution and hospital: Zelenskyy reported over 40 dead in Poltava

41 people were killed and over 180 were injured as a result of a Russian missile strike on Poltava today, September 3. This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“I have received preliminary reports on the Russian strike on Poltava. According to the information we have now, two ballistic missiles. They hit the territory of an educational institution and a neighboring hospital. One of the buildings of the Institute of Communications was partially destroyed. People were under the rubble. Many were saved. More than 180 people were injured. Unfortunately, many were killed. As of now, 41 people are known to have died. My condolences to all the families and friends,” the head of state said.

All necessary services have now been involved in the rescue operation.

Zelenskyy ordered a full and prompt investigation of all the circumstances of the incident.

“I am grateful to each and every one of those who, from the first minutes after the strike, helped people, saved lives. The Russian bastards will definitely answer for this strike,” the president emphasized.

One of the buildings of the Communication Institute was partially destroyed, and rescue operations are currently underway to find people trapped under the rubble, according to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

So far, 25 people have been rescued, with 11 of them being freed from the debris. All those injured have been handed over to medical personnel.

A residential area is located near the impact site. The blast wave shattered windows and damaged facades in nearby high-rise buildings. Nearly a hundred reports of damaged property have already been recorded.
