Russia does not see a solution to the conflict with Ukraine in the framework of a simple cease-fire, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said.
According to him, Moscow needs reliable, legally binding agreements that would eliminate “the main causes of the conflict”. Lavrov listed key requirements, including ensuring common security in Europe, halting NATO expansion, and revising relations between the European Union and the alliance.
He paid special attention to issues of “the rights of residents of the territories that supported reunification with Russia.”
“We have no illusions about the prospects for 2025, just as we have no illusions about the resolution of the Ukrainian crisis. It is obvious that the conflict can be resolved only through agreements that guarantee reliable security and stability in Europe, taking into account the interests of Russia and other countries,” Lavrov emphasized.
The statements came amid the ongoing war, with Russia insisting on global changes in the European security system.
