Russia has damaged at least 183 religious sites in Ukraine

From February 24, at least 183 religious sites in 14 regions of Ukraine were fully or partly damaged as a result of the armed attack by the russian federation. Such information is provided by the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnic Affairs and Freedom of Conscience (DESS) based on monitoring results.

In particular, churches, mosques, synagogues, educational and administrative buildings of religious communities of Ukraine were damaged.

5 of the 183 sites damaged belong to the Muslim community, 5 – Jewish, the other 173 – Christian.

The largest number of damaged religious sites are in Donetsk (45) and Luhansk (40) regions followed by Kyiv (34) and Kharkiv (25) regions.

It should be reminded that the monitoring of damaged religious sites is conducted by the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnic Affairs and Freedom of Conscience in cooperation with the Workshop for the Academic Study of Religion (WASR).
