Romania raised 2 F-16s due to Russian shaheds on July 24

This night, Romanian F-16s took off to monitor the national airspace as Russian drones most likely attacked its territory.

This was reported by Romanian media Digi 24.

“On the night of July 23 to 24, Russian forces carried out a new series of drone attacks on some targets in Ukraine, near the border with Romania in Tulcea county. As a result of this situation, the Ministry of National Defense strengthened the monitoring and surveillance measures of the national airspace with the forces and means in the Air Police Combat Service. At 2.19 am, two F-16 aircraft of the Romanian Air Force took off from the 86th Borcea Air Base to monitor the aerial situation. The two aircraft returned to the base around 4:20 a.m.,” the Ministry of National Defense said in an official statement.

Also, esidents of Romania’s Tulcea that borders Ukraine received a Ro-Alert message at around 2:20 AM and were warned about falling wreckage due to the Russian drone attack.

The Ministry of National Defense ordered to conduct investigations to search for drone fragments that may have fallen on the territory of Romania and promised to further highlight the details.
