In 2023 Russia will lose one and a half times more military personnel than in 2022, according to BBC Russian Service analysis. There are also big changes in the age of the average soldier. In 2022 a typical Russian serviceman who died in the war against Ukraine was 21 years old a contract soldier, while in 2023 it will be a prisoner over 30.
