Russian dictator Putin’s plans to destroy Ukraine have failed. But Russian aggression has not stopped. Therefore, Washington’s support for Kyiv should continue, despite possible changes in the White House after the US presidential elections. This was stated by United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken at a briefing at the security forum in Aspen, FREEDOM reports.

Blinken stressed that Ukraine must not be let down, otherwise Putin will intensify aggression and expand it to the West. And other potential aggressors far from Europe are also learning from this.

“Vladimir Putin has already been defeated. He failed to achieve his goal – to erase Ukraine from the map, cease its existence as an independent state, and incorporate it into Russia. He did not succeed and will not succeed,” said the US Secretary of State.

The question now, he said, is what constitutes success for Kyiv in the future.

“The answer is simple: a strong, independent Ukraine that is increasingly integrated with the West, that stands on its own feet militarily, economically and democratically,” Blinken emphasized.

He also stressed that the United States is doing everything it can to make sure Kyiv has everything it needs to fight ongoing Russian aggression and is helping to make plans for the future.

“We saw strong bipartisan majorities in both houses of Congress on support for Ukraine. I believe it still exists. And I think any administration will take this into account,” the Secretary of State concluded.

He believes that any administration in the United States “must ask difficult questions” in the context of ongoing Russian aggression.

“If we stop, if we turn around, if we let Ukraine down, what will Putin do? Then he will actually resume aggression and may have a chance to succeed where he failed,” Blinken said.

The Russian dictator will not stop at Ukraine and will probably “turn to other countries in the region, including NATO members,” he added.

“And other potential aggressors far from Ukraine, far from Europe, they are learning from this too,” Blinken said.
