Production of the movie “Myth” about Vasyl Slipak finished

The production of the documentary film “Myth” on the life and death of Vasyl Slipak, who was a Ukrainian opera singer with a global name and a unique voice, has been completed. Slipak died during hostilities in eastern Ukraine in the ranks of volunteers.

Vasyl Slipak was born in Lviv, won the vocal competitions and eventually moved to France, where he lived for 19 years. There, the singer gained fame and made a successful career on world opera stages. Slipack joined the Revolution of Dignity, heading the demonstration in France, after that joined the volunteer movement and then left the stage and went volunteering to the Donbas. In the war, he received the nickname “Myth”. During a combat mission, the man died from a sniper bullet.

Vasyl Slipak is the Knight of the Order “For Courage” of the First Class, Hero of Ukraine, Knight of the Order of the “Golden Star”.

The directors of the movie about the Ukrainian hero are Leonid Kanter and Ivan Yasniy. The film’s producers are Kateryna Mizina and Oleksandr Driz. The tape combines documentary and animation created by Ukrainian graphic artist Yuriy Zhuravel. The project “Myth” has become one of the winners of the 10th competitive selection of Derzhkino. The amount of state financial support for the film amounted to UAH 620,000. with a total production cost of UAH 1.577 million.

The shooting of the documentary film lasted from August 2016 to April 2017 in Paris, Lviv and on the Svetlodarsk arc.

“The film Myth will be released for showing in movie theaters in Ukraine on February 8. Within the framework of the promotion tour the shooting crew will visit 19 Ukrainian cities”, it was informed in the message.
