Prime Minister of Ukraine and Prime Minister of Sweden discuss support needed to restore energy infrastructure

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held an online conversation with Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson.

The parties discussed support needed to restore Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

“Swedish power transformers, generators and other equipment are already helping to restore the Ukrainian energy system. We are grateful for this. At the same time, protecting the sky over Ukraine from terrorist attacks by Russia remains a priority for us,” Denys Shmyhal stressed.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine noted that the new “winter package” of assistance from the Government of Sweden for almost USD 338 million, including, in particular, air defense, is a significant contribution to Ukraine’s resilience and victory.

Denys Shmyhal also thanked Sweden for joining the Grain from Ukraine initiative of the President of Ukraine and allocating EUR 10 million for the purchase of Ukrainian grain for countries of Asia and Africa.

The Heads of Government discussed, inter alia, post-war reconstruction and further integration of Ukraine into the European Union. Denys Shmyhal expressed hope for significant progress in this issue during Sweden’s presidency of the EU Council starting January 1, 2023.
