In Rome, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with President of the Council of Ministers of Italy Giorgia Meloni.
The Head of State presented the Victory Plan and thanked Giorgia Meloni and the Italian government team for their attention to the Plan, its points, and Ukraine’s strategy.
During the meeting, all aspects of the Victory Plan were discussed in detail. The President also spoke about the ongoing work with all other partners.
“The key is to strengthen Ukraine’s positions and relations with our closest partners in such a way that we create the necessary conditions, the necessary fair atmosphere for honest diplomacy,” he said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Giorgia Meloni agreed to continue working at the team level to create the conditions for peace as soon as possible.
“The goal of our support is to put Ukraine in the best conditions to set up a negotiating table for peace. Peace, which I said a number of times, cannot mean surrendering, as many, too many have suggested in a cowardly manner,” emphasized the President of the Council of Ministers of Italy.
Other key topics of the negotiations included preparations for the European Council meeting and decisions regarding Russian assets, the development of the global situation, and the immediate political outlook in partner countries.
The President spoke about the situation on the frontline and the overall war situation. He also thanked Italy for its security assistance, particularly air defense systems. The leaders discussed the preparation of a new support package.
“Today, we paid special attention to the economic aspect of our Victory Plan, particularly regarding the special economic opportunities in Ukraine and critical resources that must not fall under Russian control,” added Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Additionally, the negotiations focused on preparations for the Ukraine Recovery Conference, which will be held next year in Rome. Giorgia Meloni announced that it will take place on July 10-11.
