Portugal Ready to Participate to a UN Peacekeeping Mission in Donbas

According to the site fakty.ictv.ua, the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared that Portuguese peacekeepers are ready to participate in the UN peacekeeping mission in the Donbas if the relevant UN Security Council resolution is adopted.

“If all sides agree on the introduction of UN peacekeepers and if they are certain that this type of mission will help resolve the Donbas situation, of course, Portugal will be ready to take part in this mission,” said Augusto Santos – the Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs.

According to him, “Portugal is an expert in these issues as it participated in several peacekeeping operations all around Europe and is involved in various aspects of the UN activities.”

The Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jacek Chuputovych, also spoke in favor of a peacekeeping mission in Ukraine.
