“The law on Anti-Corruption Court is adopted not for the IMF, not for the Council of Europe, not for the EU or America. The Anti-Corruption Court is being created for Ukraine to ensure an effective transparent fight against corruption, to establish an independent institution that will become part of a reformed judicial system,” President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko wrote on Facebook.

On Thursday, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the law on the Anti-Corruption Court.

On March 1, it had passed Presidential Draft Law No. 7440 “On the High Anti-Corruption Court” in the first reading. At the same time, the IMF, the World Bank and the EU stated that the draft law violates Ukraine’s obligations and does not meet the requirements of the Venice Commission.

Later, the Anti-Corruption Court draft law was agreed upon with the Venice Commission.
