The operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces has reported that its F-16s intercepted Russia’s Il-20 aircraft over the Baltic Sea on August 12.
This was announced on X.
“Polish fighter jets intercepted an Il-20 aircraft conducting a reconnaissance mission in international airspace without violating Polish territorial waters,” reads the tweet.
This is not Russia’s first provocation in the Baltic Sea. On August 3, Swedish and German pilots intercepted Russian aircraft near Latvia’s borders. It was assumed they took part in training exercises of Russian vessels.
In July, Finnish and Swedish jets intercepted Russian fighter jets over the Baltic Sea.
