The Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs is working on regulations for the evacuation of civilians and national cultural assets in the event of natural disasters or military threats.

This was reported by AP.

The project is expected to be ready within three months, according to a government communiqué.

It stems from the Civil Protection Act, which came into force on January 1, and is being developed in response to the recent flooding in southern Poland and Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The draft law, which must be approved by the cabinet of Prime Minister Donald Tusk, mandates that no less than 0.3% of the annual gross national product be allocated to improving evacuation preparedness.

The new regulations will define the responsibilities and coordination of various civil security services responsible for moving people to safe locations.

They will also provide guidelines for the safe evacuation and protection of artworks.

It is worth noting that in mid-September 2024, several areas in southwestern Poland suffered from catastrophic flooding.
