The Minister of Defense of Germany, Boris Pistorius, said on Friday that Europe will find it difficult to replace American troops on the continent.

He made this statement in the corridors of the Munich Security Conference, as quoted by AFP.

His statements appeared against the backdrop of speculations that the USA may reduce its presence in Europe.

“We will have to compensate for what the Americans are doing less in Europe,” Pistorius said.

However, according to him, “this cannot happen in an instant.”

Recently, the head of the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth, stated that “harsh strategic realities” do not allow the USA to focus primarily on security in Europe.

He also said that European countries should take a lesson from Poland in defense spending.
