Pfizer vaccine delivered to Ukraine (PHOTOS)

117 000 doses of Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine were delivered to Ukraine as a part of the COVAX initiative.

The vaccine was delivered by plane to the international airport “Kyiv”.

According to the chief sanitary doctor of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko said, immunization with Pfizer in Ukraine will start on April 18.

“117 000 doses will be taken from the airport to the customs-licensed warehouse. After customs clearance, the logistics company will deliver the vaccine to the regions. The logistics partner has the opportunity to store the vaccine at the appropriate temperature”, said the sanitary doctor.

According to him, on April 17, 29 500 thousand doses of the vaccine will be delivered to all regional warehouses. 1 170 doses in each region. One vial contains 6 doses.

“Vaccinations will start on April 18 in nursing homes, since the first vaccines, according to the plan, were provided for these categories of people,” Lyashko stressed.

According to Lyashko, Ukraine should receive another 950 000 doses of Pfizer vaccine.

Previously Ukrainians were vaccinated with Chinese CoronaVac.

It was also reported that the Ministry of Health has set a task to vaccinate 70% of the adult population by the end of the year.
