Persecution of indigenous peoples in occupied Crimea by Russia will be discussed at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

The autumn session starts in Strasbourg today. Member of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE, deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Rustem Umerov said that Ukraine had submitted a request for the debate, UA informs.

This happened after a new wave of illegal searches and arrests of Crimean Tatars on the peninsula in early September. The letter was sent to the PACE President.

The current session will last in face-to-face and distance form until September 30.
