The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe approved a resolution urging Russia to ensure the observance of the rights of Crimean Tatars, comply with international law and restore the territorial integrity of Ukraine, UA reports.

The delegates called on Moscow to release all those illegally detained and imprisoned in the occupied Crimea.

The document was supported by 73 delegates, 17 opposed, and 2 more – abstained.

According to First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova, this is an important manifestation of support for those who continue to suffer from politically and religiously motivated persecution by the Russian occupation authorities in the occupied Crimea.

“Despite all the manipulations and disinformation campaigns, Moscow couldn’t conceal the facts of murders, enforced disappearances, torture, impunity, staged trials, discrimination against representatives of the Crimean Tatar people, destruction of its representative institutions and the national identity of the Crimean Tatar people – in general, the implementation of all illegal practices that create an atmosphere of fear, hostility and lawlessness in Crimea”, – she wrote on Facebook.
