Over year of war, Ukrainian aviation launches over 4,400 strikes on Russian positions

Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the defending nation’s Air Force has carried out more than 4,400 airstrikes on the enemy positions.

That’s according to the Air Force Command.

“Over the year of the war, the strike aviation of our Air Force carried out more than 4,400 group airstrikes against enemy strongholds, positions, logistics, combat equipment, and manpower. More than 5,300 sorties were made as part of the troops cover,” reads the posting on Telegram.

The Command says “the efficiency and result of the combat operations of our aviation directly depend on correct and accurate navigational calculations. It is the navigator who quickly selects the optimal flight route, procedure for overcoming the enemy’s anti-aircraft defenses, approach to the target, selection of the necessary means of attack, calculation of fuel for the task, and others.

“Today, February 28, aviation navigators of the Armed Forces of Ukraine celebrate their professional holiday, while serving at their combat positions, detailing another air strike on Russian invaders,” the statement reads.

The Commander of the Air Force, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleschuk, thanked all military personnel of the Navigation Service for their personal courage and heroism, shown in the defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as loyalty to their military oath.

He recalled that “a year into the Russian invasion, more than 30 servicemen of the navigation services of the Air Force have been awarded state awards, three of them have been awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine: Lieutenant Colonel Eduard Vahorovsky (posthumously), Major Roman Chehun (posthumously), and Captain Oleh Pasichnyk.”
