On August 25, the Ukrainian Oscar Committee will start accepting applications for national films in the Academy Award selection.
UA reports this with reference to the press service of the State Cinema Agency of Ukraine.
“Applications will be accepted starting August 25 till September 8. During this period, the Committee will hold consultations for filmmakers on the submission of films for consideratio” – the statement reads.
The movie nominated should meet the following criteria:
- it must be a full-length feature, documentary or animated film (at least 40 minutes long) shot outside the United States;
- English should not be the dominant language of the film; it must be released for commercial distribution no earlier than January 1, 2021 and no later than December 31, 2021. The screening should last no less than 7 consecutive days;
- Films that have a planned theatrical release, but were initially available on reputable commercial streaming distribution services or video to order, may qualify for consideration in the “International Feature Film” category.
Applications are accepted starting August 25 till September 8 at: [email protected].
This year, the Ukrainian Oscar Committee has set the following dates for the selection of national films:
- August 25 to September 8, 2021 – acceptance of applications for participation in the competition;
- September 9 to September 23, 2021 – consideration of applications by the Committee;
- September 24, 2021 – meeting of the Committee and announcement of the results of the competition.
