A massive Russian attack on Ukraine is not the most likely scenario.
This opinion was voiced by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell during a meeting of the European Parliament Commission on Foreign Affairs, informs UA.
The diplomat called on the Russian Federation to de-escalate the situation around Ukraine and stressed that the security of Europe cannot be discussed without guarantees for the security of Ukraine.
In addition, Borrell warned that in the event of Russian aggression against Ukraine, the EU is ready to take the necessary measures and did not rule out a revision of the European security architecture.
“We continue to work on the preparation of sanctions in the event of an invasion. Although our intelligence data suggests that the possibility of a massive attack on Ukraine is not the most likely scenario. At the same time, other types of attacks are also used, for example, cyber attacks on the websites of the Ukrainian authorities” – Borrell stressed.
Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that NATO will support Ukraine so that it can defend itself.
