New U.S. military aid package for Ukraine includes 18 HIMARS, – US State Department spokesman Andrea Kalan

The new package of military assistance to Ukraine from the United States of America includes, among other things, the transfer of 18 HIMARS artillery missile systems. This was announced on the air of the FREEDOM TV channel by the official representative of the US State Department, Andrea Kalan.

She focused on the fact that sham referendums in the occupied territories and the announcement of mobilization in Russia are the reaction of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the successful counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“I want to emphasize that mobilization and “referendums” are, apparently, a reaction to the successful counter-offensive that Ukraine is conducting now. This is so effective because it is the United States, together with our partners, that is helping Ukraine. Well, and we see what the Ukrainian Armed Forces are doing, their skill inspires us all. Ukraine can rely on our help in the long term. Just last night, the Department of Defense announced a new aid package worth more than $1 billion. And this will help Ukraine in the long run. This includes 18 HIMARS and other equipment,” – Kalan said.

She recalled that there are two mechanisms by which the United States can transfer assistance to Ukraine: either the transfer of weapons that are already in stock or through an order from suppliers.

“What was allocated yesterday from the US Department of Defense is precisely to order new equipment from suppliers, new equipment to help Ukraine in the long term. Because, as we see, this Russian aggression does not end today. It will not end tomorrow. And the West, the United States and our partners understand that we need to help Ukraine as much as necessary. And to give what is needed in the long run,” – US State Department representative stressed.

Receiving the equipment, which is included in the new US aid package, is expected to take between six months and two years.

“So it’s for the long term. But do not forget that Ukraine already has HIMARS and good systems. And the Ukrainian Armed Forces are very successfully using what they have. And the US is providing aid through stockpiles to get it right now, and through suppliers to help in the long run,” – Kalan said.

In particular, according to her, ammunition is transferred from stocks.

“This shows that the United States is ready to order everything that is needed tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, in 6 months and in a year, so that Ukraine can defend its territory and guarantee territorial integrity, ” – said Andrea Kalan, a spokeswoman for the US State Department.
