Poland will provide Ukraine with a new defense package. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this during a joint press conference with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

The Head of State thanked Poland for its continued support of Ukraine and highlighted the cooperation in bolstering Ukrainian air defense.

“We are especially grateful for the special agreements. This is reflected in the security agreement and includes the provision to develop a mechanism for intercepting Russian missiles and drones in Ukraine’s airspace aimed at Poland. Our teams, along with the military, will discuss the speed of implementation of this provision,” stated Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The security agreement also includes the formation and training of a Ukrainian Legion on Polish territory.

“The Ukrainian Legion will train in Poland and be equipped with the help of our partners. Every Ukrainian citizen who decides to join the Legion will be able to sign a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Our teams are currently working out all the details of this proposal,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.

The President pointed out that Poland is a co-leader in implementing the Peace Formula clause regarding energy security.

“Already this summer, we have to submit a prepared action plan within the Peace Formula to restore energy security to Ukraine, and thus to all our neighbors in Europe,” the Head of State said.

The Polish Prime Minister assured of continued support for Ukraine.

“Every word in this document means something and will have practical consequences. We see these words as mutual commitments, not empty promises, and soon, together with other allies, we will step by step fulfill the points of this document,” he said.

Donald Tusk also assured that Poland will support Ukraine on its path to NATO.

“No one has the right to make decisions about the future peace and its form without Ukraine or on behalf of Ukraine. And nothing about European policy regarding Ukraine should be decided without the EU as a whole,” emphasized the Prime Minister.
