Bilateral talks between the U.S. and Russia on security issues are possible in January.

This was stated by Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia Karen Donfried, UA reports.

‘Some of Moscow’s proposals will be discussed. We are talking about the demands of the Russian Federation that NATO should refuse to expand to the east and not include Ukraine in the Alliance. The date of the meeting will be agreed with Moscow. It will take place together with the talks between Russia and NATO with the participation of European allies. We are ready to discuss Russia’s proposals. We are ready to work on some of them, and we really believe that it makes sense to negotiate. There are other proposals in these documents, which are unacceptable to us’ – said Donfried.

Earlier, the White House confirmed Ukraine’s right to join NATO.
