The situation near Bakhmut is dynamic, but positive for the Ukrainian Defense Forces, as the Russian military is in a semi-encirclement. This was announced on the air of the FREEDOM TV channel by military analyst Oleksiy Getman.
He recalled that the Ukrainian military occupied the dominant heights, from where it is even possible to visually correct artillery fire.
“Naturally, the Russians are doing counter-offensive actions, trying to recapture these heights. And so far there are such fights. The situation, one might say, is dynamic… But even now we keep under fire control everything that can be brought in or taken out of the occupied Bakhmut,” Hetman said.
He stressed that the Bakhmut direction is no less important than the South. Recently, the commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel-General Olexander Syrsky, came to that area and met with the fighters.
“So far the situation is dynamic but positive for us. Sooner or later, I think that sooner, the Russians will have to leave Bakhmut, because they are already in the operational environment. And when they understand that they will be completely surrounded, I think they will have somewhere to run, no one will stay there and will not fight in the environment, as our Armed Forces could do, ”said the military analyst.
Hetman noted that for Russians, Bakhmut has an important political and psychological significance, since they stormed the city for 10 months and for every 42 cm of a centimeter, the life of one Russian serviceman was laid.
“You can say they just walked over the corpses. And if we release him in a few months, this will hit the morale of the Russians even more, I mean those who are on the battlefield, ”said the military analyst.
He recalled that the Russian military can surrender: in Ukraine, they are guaranteed all the rights of prisoners of war.
