The American National Geographic channel has recognized the existence of the 5th ocean – the Southern one.
UATV reports this referring to the National Geographic website.
4 oceans have always been marked on the world maps, produced since 1915: Atlantic, Pacific, Indian and Arctic. Starting June 8, the Southern was added to the list.
“The Southern Ocean has long been recognized by scientists, but “since there has never been international agreement, we have never officially recognized it“, – said National Geographic Society geographer Alex Tait.
