Registered voters who watched the debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump on Tuesday believe Harris performed better by a margin of 63% to 37%.

This is according to a debate viewers’ poll conducted by SSRS for CNN.

Before the debate, the same voters were evenly split on who they expected to perform stronger: 50% believed Harris would do better, while 50% thought it would be Trump.

The poll results reflect only the opinions of voters who watched the debate and are not representative of all eligible voters.

The surveyed debate viewers were 6 percentage points more likely to support the Republican Party than the Democratic Party.

However, these results mark a shift compared to June, when voters who watched a debate between Trump and Joe Biden said Trump outperformed his Democratic rival by a margin of 67% to 33%.

In both the 2020 and 2016 elections, Biden and Hillary Clinton were seen as outperforming Trump during the presidential debates by those who watched.

The poll was conducted via text messages among 605 registered U.S. voters who said they watched Tuesday’s debate.

It’s also noted that during the debate, Trump avoided answering whether he wanted Ukraine to win the war, while Harris stated that if Trump had been president in recent years instead of Biden, it would have been a disaster for Ukraine and Eastern Europe.
