1 February, the Moldovagaz company started supplying 3 million cubic meters of gas to Transnistria. This was announced by the acting director of the company, Vadim Ceban.
The supplies are made from the already available gas reserves in the pipelines on the right bank of the Dniester, without additional purchases on the European market. The contract for gas transfer was signed on January 29 between Moldovagaz and Tiraspoltransgaz.
Earlier, Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean said that the country had agreed with the European Union on financial assistance in the amount of 64 million euros, of which 20 million are intended for the purchase of gas for Transnistria and electricity for the right bank of the Dniester.
The situation with energy supply in the region has worsened after the termination of gas supplies from Russia via Ukraine from January 1, 2025. As a result, central heating and hot water were cut off in Transnistria, fan power cuts were introduced, and industrial enterprises suspended operations.
