Ministers of Education of Ukraine and the Kingdom of Sweden discussed expansion of Ukrainian-Swedish cooperation

December 6, 2022, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhii Shkarlet during an online meeting with Minister of Education of the Kingdom of Sweden Mats Persson discussed the expansion of Ukrainian-Swedish cooperation in education and science in the context of Sweden’s presidency of the EU Council.

Since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion, many Swedish universities have expressed solidarity with Ukraine and helped with the national multi-subject test.

“In April 2022, University of Gothenburg allocated SEK 5 million to host visiting researchers from Ukraine. Umeå University supports Ukrainian students through fundraising. To continue their scientific work, the University of Sundsvall has accepted three researchers from Ukraine,” said Serhii Shkarlet.

Also during the meeting, the Ministers discussed the synchronization of curricula, re-crediting of grades and the possibility of studying the Ukrainian language for foreigners in leading universities in Sweden (by the example of the University of Gothenburg) and providing conditions for learning Swedish by Ukrainians.
