Military support for Ukraine is the only effective tool to restore lasting peace in Europe, – MFA

Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba spoke on the work of the diplomatic team to strengthen defense capabilities of our country and called on partners to bolster military support for Ukraine, which is the only effective tool to restore lasting peace in Europe. This was stated at the Minister’s online briefing on Tuesday, November 22.

“Weapons remain a top priority for diplomats. With the shift of the aggressor state to missile terror against our towns and people, this work has become even more urgent,” the Minister said.

Dmytro Kuleba noted that recent weeks have been particularly effective in meeting the priority needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in modern high-precision weapons. This is especially true for air and missile defense systems, large caliber artillery systems, multiple launch rocket systems, armored combat vehicles, as well as ammunition for all these types of weapons.

“In the previous ten days alone, ten countries announced new military support packages or financial contributions to Ukraine: the United States, the United Kingdom, Spain, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Finland, France, Sweden. Most of these countries, as well as Australia, Greece, Denmark, Estonia, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic and some other partners continued to implement previously announced defense assistance packages,” he said.

The Minister expressed his gratitude to all partner states for their support and understanding that a significant strengthening of Ukraine is the only effective tool to restore lasting peace in Europe: “russia’s crimes have not been stopped by the principles of the UN Charter or international treaties to which it was a party. The only language that russia understands is the language of strength and readiness to resist. Therefore, we call on all partners to increase military support for Ukraine.”

The Minister of Foreign Affairs noted that creation of a modern multilevel system of air and missile defense, an air shield that will protect Ukrainian towns and people from the russian missile terror is a particularly important task. This is what President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy insists on.

“Remember, a few months ago, everyone said that the use of NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems in Ukraine was impossible. But during the last russian missile attack on November 15, NASAMS were not only in Ukraine, but also successfully destroyed all 10 targets out of 10 launches,” the Minister stressed.

Dmytro Kuleba reminded about another priority of the MFA: the launch of international cooperation projects on production, repair and maintenance of weapons and military equipment with the participation of leading enterprises of the defense industry of Ukraine. According to him, the MFA has already established systematic cooperation with the Ukroboronprom State Concern in this area. But diplomats are also ready to support other enterprises of the national defense industry.
