The Ukrainian gas transportation system is ready to provide gas transit to Europe for a long time. But a long-term contract is required to support the system.
Serhiy Makogon, General Director of GTS Operator of Ukraine, said this during the Ukrainian Gas Congress, UA reports citing Ukrinform.
“There is no reason to stop gas transit due to technical problems of the Ukrainian GTS. We are introducing European regulation and operating with European standards. We are investing in the development of our system and we are ready to continue transit to Europe for a long time”, – said Makogon.
In his opinion, Ukraine will not be able to maintain the existing gas transportation system without a long-term contract for certain volumes of transit.
Earlier, the support group for Ukraine in the US Congress published an article in which it noted that it would closely monitor that the competition for the posts of independent members of the supervisory board of Naftogaz was held in accordance with the standards set by the international community.
